Construction and Insulation System
The transformer core is manufactured from grain-oriented silicon steel with an optimized laminated structure to control no-load losses and operating noise.
For cast resin designs, the high-voltage windings are vacuum cast with epoxy resin and suitable mineral filler. This creates a solid insulation system with good mechanical and dielectric properties while avoiding the use of transformer oil.
The low-voltage winding can be designed with a foil-wound structure where appropriate to improve current distribution and short-circuit withstand capability. Temperature sensors can be embedded in the windings and connected to a temperature controller, alarm system and forced-air cooling system when required.
For locations requiring additional protection against dust, moisture or accidental contact, the transformer can be supplied with a metal enclosure and the required IP protection level.
