IP33 indicates protection against the ingress of larger solid foreign objects and resistance to rain at certain angles; IP43 and IP54 further enhance dust and water resistance, suitable for general urban environments or industrial areas; while IP65 offers strong dust and water spray protection, suitable for harsher outdoor environments such as coastal, high-humidity, or dusty areas.
Prefabricated transformers typically rely not only on the enclosure protection rating but also on structural design to improve overall protection performance, such as using sealed enclosures, rainproof louvers, sealing strips, and anti-corrosion coatings.
