Storage Environment
Packaged transformers should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated environment with a suitable temperature, avoiding direct sunlight, rain, and damp conditions. Indoor storage should be kept away from water sources and corrosive chemicals; outdoor storage should be provided with a rain shelter, and the ground should be level and moisture-proof. Temperature fluctuations should be minimized to prevent thermal expansion or moisture absorption of the tank or insulation materials.
Placement Method
The equipment should be placed horizontally on a stable supporting platform or pallet, with the bottom not directly contacting the ground to prevent water accumulation and moisture absorption. For oil-immersed transformers, the tank should be kept full of oil and sealed before long-term storage to prevent air and moisture ingress; dry-type transformers should be sealed in packaging to prevent dust and moisture from entering the windings.
Protective Measures
The enclosure should be kept intact, with doors and windows closed. Critical openings can be covered with plastic film or dust covers. High-voltage and low-voltage ports should be fitted with protective caps or plugs to prevent dust, moisture, and debris from entering. For equipment stored long-term, anti-rust oil or a coating can be sprayed onto the exterior to prevent oxidation of metal parts.
Regular Inspections Even during storage, the oil level, oil quality (for oil-immersed equipment), the condition of the outer casing, and any signs of leakage, rust, or rodent damage should be checked regularly. Any abnormalities should be addressed promptly to ensure the equipment remains in good working order before installation.
