Externally, the enclosure is usually a vertical, single-unit structure, with its height generally slightly greater than its width and depth, facilitating outdoor placement and cable access. Some large or modular prefabricated transformers employ a multi-compartment parallel structure, with each compartment housing the high-voltage, transformer, and low-voltage sections, separated by partitions and doors for easy inspection and maintenance.
The enclosure shell is generally treated for corrosion resistance, with a gray or green coating. It may also include ventilation louvers, heat dissipation holes, or a canopy to adapt to outdoor environments. The overall shape ensures a rational layout of internal equipment while also meeting the needs of protection, heat dissipation, and safe operation.
